Blog Post - TGM scene

During this scene, Aaron and I had a lot of difficulties getting our lines to match with the ones that we were trying to get across. As a group, we both kept coming up with different ideas and way to change and manipulate the scene in different ways. We also had a hard time working out each of our monologues. We did a lot of practicing with blocking and messing around trying to use the most of the stage. As the scene came together we had used the majority of the stage and has blocking that made us feel confident our point was being carried not only through our words but our actions as well. We had decided that there would be a more complicated lighting so that we could show a progression and have smaller changes that would hopefully affect the entire feel of each scene. Aaron and I also did work on action games and having fun. This helped us learn our lines and do different techniques to get better as actors in a scene together. The outcome was good, considering the more complicated lights and scene changes. We did a good job of staying in character and knowing the majority of the lines. While there were a few mistakes, mainly on my part, I think we learned the lines pretty well. Our blocking came out really well and we did a great job of using all of the stage in order for us to fill the space with minimal props and people. We had some shaky scene changes and we could have done a better job of making sure that Grace had everything she needed because she ended up not having a candle and I didn’t have the costume I was going to wear. In the scene changes themselves, it was difficult to move things and get everything where we needed it with only the two of us. I also could have done a better job of showing emotion and levels in my voice. As for blocking we could have included more levels, while we used the front, middle and back of the stage it would have been cool to use the bridge to give even more levels. Personally, I could have n=known my lines a little bit better and been more confident in delivery. I also could have done more react to Aaron than focusing on trying to find the music by blocking and thinking about my lines. I think that Aaron was doing good with what we set and was taking charge, which was helpful especially since he has had more experience than myself. I have a lot of room to grow and I can see that in the video and how I felt about the performance. As a group, I think we worked really well of getting everything done and working smoothly through the snow days. Finally, our video was a little bit too short so we could have added more to lengthen it, I think part of the problem was both of us rushed our lines a little bit.
